Omg!! Re Cabins turns one!! What a journey…
Wow, honestly this year has flown by - wooosh have we learnt a lot.
I actually can’t quite believe it… but Re Cabins officially launched to the public a year ago. It occupied space in my mind for about 2 years before that as my little brain child, but with the encouragement of a few people, namely Luke Jones and Tom Joy we decided to take the plunge and make it real.
After suffering with my own mental health and burnout, working for a high-growth and then covid-casualty start-up, the breakdown of my last relationship and really truly needing to escape my reality, Re Cabins slowly started forming as an idea. A year later the universe gave me a not so subtle nudge when I had a tarot reading and the reader told me she saw ‘self-sufficient cabins’ in my near future. (???!!*!@”:£!!!) Crazy right?!
Whether it was always written in the stars, or whether we just *knew* we were on to a good idea, it’s impossible to look back now and see another path worth taking that trumps the journey we’ve been on to date.
I don’t want to sugar coat it. It has been hard, there have been setbacks, it has often been gruelling and we’ve had one of the steepest learning curves I’ve ever experienced… But, it was definitely worthwhile. The feedback we get from guests that not only touches upon the gorgeous design of the cabin, but also of all of the small touch points that encourage more intimacy, connection and conversation between guests leaves me beaming every time I read a new review. That I can say I have now positively impacted hundreds of guests, and hopefully helped prevent burnout in even just a handful is something I am immensely proud of. We even helped a couple get engaged at our cabin this summer❣️
We’ve launched partnerships with Merry People, NORTHERN MONK, Babes On Waves, Humble Crumble, Kankan, (MALIN+GOETZ), AllDay Goods & Veloforte to name a few…
We planted trees and wildflowers, we did litter pick-ups, we did the cleans ourselves, then we hired a local team. We fixed burst pipes, put up fences and built a huge outdoor bath-tub from scratch. We basically spent a helluva lot less time at our laptops, and a lot more time outdoors, all the while keeping our design clients happy at Ellipse Design Studio. And yes, I did burn out a couple of times during the process of building a wellness brand 🙄😅. But now that we’re officially one year old, with lots of happy guests and we can finally breathe a little, knowing this is no longer a huge risk. We’re cabin people now.
Thank you to my incredible Co-Founder Luke Jones, without whom none of this would have been possible. And thank you to all of our guests who have come to stay, or have given gift vouchers to loved ones. Your support means the world & we literally would have nothing without your trust in us 💛
As we look forward to what’s next, we can’t wait to show you the launch of new cabins in new locations, new exciting partnerships, wellness retreats and more. We can’t wait to show you where we go next!
